Calculation of Amount of Heat

Objective
To learn how to calculate amount of heat used to heat substance.

Equipment
Measuring glass, thermometer, liquid (water).

Procedure

  • Pour water into the measuring glass and determine the mass of water.

    Comment: Determine scale of the measuring glass. To determine mass of water apply the formula: m = ρV, the density of water is known from the table of desities.

  • Determine initial temperature of water using the thermometer. 

    T1 = 58 °С.

    Comment: Determine scale of the thermometer.

  • Fill your results in the table.
